Job summary

Olson Precast is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting operations and serve as a trusted financial partner to leadership. This hands‑on role oversees daily accounting, inventory, AP/AR and month‑end close, with oversight of HR and compliance functions.

You will mentor staff, drive strong internal controls, and coordinate with external advisors to improve systems and reporting while supporting strategic business decisions in manufacturing and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong GL, month‑end close, and financial reporting.
• Experience supervising accounting staff; manufacturing/inventory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, billing and collections.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close, GAAP reporting, reconciliations and management reporting.
• Manage inventory accounting for production activity, raw materials and finished goods.
• Oversee cash management, banking and working capital.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, pricing and capital investments.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff while remaining hands‑on as needed.
• Oversee HR responsibilities including benefits, HRIS, timekeeping and compliance reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and coordinate tax/audit with external advisors.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and efficiency.

The Controller will oversee day‑to‑day accounting, financial reporting, inventory, AP/AR, and month‑end close while managing a lean accounting team. The role also includes oversight of certain HR and compliance functions, offering broad exposure to business operations and opportunities to improve systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and collections.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close, financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage inventory accounting, including production activity, raw materials, and finished goods.
• Oversee cash management, banking activities, and working capital.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, pricing, and capital investment decisions.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while remaining actively involved in daily accounting activities.
• Oversee HR‑related responsibilities, including benefits administration, HRIS, timekeeping, employee documentation, and compliance reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and coordinate tax and audit requirements with external advisors.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including strong general ledger, month‑end close, and financial reporting expertise.
• Previous experience supervising or leading accounting staff.
• Manufacturing, inventory‑based, or operationally complex accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and how production activities affect financial reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and accounting systems; Titan software experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities.
• Hands‑on leadership style with a willingness to support day‑to‑day accounting responsibilities.
