Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an Assistant Controller for a hands-on leadership role in manufacturing accounting. You will oversee day-to-day close, manage GL, AP/AR, inventory, fixed assets, and payroll, while coaching a growing team and strengthening controls.

This position partners with operations on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, improves SOPs, supports audits, and implements scalable processes to enhance financial visibility across the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing accounting experience.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and GAAP.
• Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Hands-on leadership style with a focus on teaching and coaching.
• CPA or Master’s degree (nice to have).
• Power BI or similar analytics experience (nice to have).
• Payroll and/or 401(k) administration exposure (nice to have).
• International, multi-entity, or foreign currency exposure (nice to have).
• Experience improving ERP-driven accounting processes (nice to have).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual results.
• Lead, coach, and develop staff with hands-on training.

LHH is partnering with an established manufacturing organization in Gilbert, Arizona that is looking to add an Assistant Controller to its accounting leadership team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being more than a reviewer. We’re looking for a hands‑on accounting leader who understands manufacturing, knows full‑cycle accounting, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves while developing a team. You’ll have the opportunity to make a visible impact on the accounting function by strengthening processes, building SOPs, improving controls, and coaching a developing accounting team.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and help drive an accurate, timely month-end close
• Manage full-cycle accounting activities, including general ledger, AP/AR, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, and financial reporting
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while providing hands‑on training
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and business decision‑making
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and standard operating procedures
• Support annual audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting
• Maintain accurate fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Identify opportunities to make accounting processes more efficient and scalable
• Work cross‑functionally with operations and other departments to improve financial visibility
• Help bring additional structure and consistency to a growing, evolving accounting environment

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Manufacturing accounting experience
• Prior supervisory or management experience
• Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting and GAAP
• Experience with inventory and fixed asset accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to operate effectively in an environment that is still building and refining processes
• A hands‑on leadership style with a genuine interest in teaching, coaching, and developing people

Nice to have:

• CPA or Master’s degree
• Power BI or similar reporting/analytics experience
