Job summary

The French Agency Professional Placement is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing organization in Phoenix. You will report to the CFO and oversee three accounting team members handling AP, AR, and Payroll.

The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience, Sage Intacct expertise, and a strong grasp of GAAP and financial reporting. CPA is not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of accounting leadership or management experience.
• Construction industry experience required.
• Sage Intacct experience required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close.
• Experience with financial dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Sage 300, UKG, and Power BI experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• CPA is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions.
• Manage, mentor, and support three direct reports.
• Maintain financial dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Analyze financial trends, risks, opportunities, and business performance.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insight and support business decisions.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure financial data accuracy.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Coordinate audit preparation and financial documentation.
• Identify and implement accounting process improvements and best practices.

Schedule: 100% in-office | Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM–4:30 PM | Most Fridays off

Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 base salary + bonus eligibility

This is a hands-on Controller opportunity with direct access to executive leadership and responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function. The position offers a four-day primary workweek, with Fridays generally off unless business needs require additional work.
