The Role

We are seeking a hands-on, operationally rigorous Controller to build our accounting and finance operations function.

This role is hands-on — especially in the early stages — and requires comfort operating in the details. You will personally prepare and reconcile complex intercompany transactions and own the accuracy of the work.

You will report to the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer and support the executive team. You strengthen executive strategy through disciplined financial clarity, proactive risk insight, and thoughtful recommendations grounded in data.

You will not simply close books — you will design and institutionalize durable financial systems that protect the enterprise as we scale.

Core Responsibilities

Accounting & Close Ownership

• Own monthly close process across MSO and affiliated PC entities
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition and GAAP-compliant reporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, including complex intercompany and revenue recognition entries
• Maintain disciplined intercompany accounting and reconciliations
• Reduce close timeline while increasing reliability
• Deliver financial statements that are clear, timely, and decision-useful
• Make it excellent, make it easy: Behind-the-scenes rigor. Front-facing clarity.
• Oversee and manage outsourced vendor responsible for AR, AP, and Payroll
• Design scalable processes and controls that the vendor executes against
• Establish KPIs, service-level expectations, and accuracy standards
• Demand timeliness, precision, and accountability
• Proactively identify and resolve breakdowns
• This role does not “check in” on the vendor. It sets the bar and enforces it.

Flow-of-Funds & Regulatory Integrity

• Maintain integrity of MSO/PC structure
• Own the preparation, posting, and reconciliation of due-to/due-from intercompany transactions
• Ensure accounting practices align with healthcare regulatory frameworks
• Surface financial control risks proactively
• Own it: If something feels exposed or unclear, you flag it and improve it.
• Own and maintain 13-week cash forecast
• Improve AR visibility and collections cadence
• Identify margin compression and burn drift before they become problems
• Partner with functional leaders to build and maintain disciplined department budgets
• Bring clarity, accountability, and structure to spending across the organization
• Provide proactive financial insight to CSOO
• Recommend structural improvements when needed

Process Architecture & Controls

• Build and document finance SOPs
• Establish internal controls appropriate for our stage of growth
• Create repeatable workflows that reduce key-person risk
• Continuously refine vendor processes for scale
• You are building infrastructure that must survive leadership transitions, capital raises, and continued expansion.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years progressive accounting experience
• Healthcare, MSO, or multi-entity experience preferred
• Strong GAAP and revenue recognition knowledge
• High ownership mentality
• Experience in growth-stage or scaling environments preferred
• Demonstrated ability to build systems from scratch or improve immature processes
• Comfortable working in environments where structure is being created, not inherited
• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
• Strong judgment and willingness to elevate when needed
• CPA preferred but not required
