Job summary

Select Recruiting Group, LLC in the Greater Philadelphia Area seeks a strategic Controller to lead all accounting operations for a fast-growing PE-backed manufacturing company.

You will own GAAP reporting, internal controls, and multi-entity consolidations, while guiding automation, system implementations, and the finance team through acquisitions and scale.

Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, and Corporate Development on budgeting, forecasting, and board-level reporting.

Qualifications

• CPA is required and US GAAP expertise.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership
• Experience in private equity-backed manufacturing environments preferred
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and multi-entity consolidations
• Proven success leading accounting teams through acquisitions and integrations

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of accounting operations (GL, cost accounting, consolidations, AP/AR, payroll, financial reporting).
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close ensuring GAAP-compliant statements.
• Manage internal controls and audit readiness; minimize risk.
• Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Corporate Development on budgeting, forecasting, and M&A integration.
• Implement standardized accounting processes and ERP systems across units.
• Lead due diligence and post-acquisition financial integration for new entities; ensure alignment with corporate reporting standards.
• Support CFO in board materials and lender reporting; develop high-performing accounting team.
• Drive automation and system enhancements to improve accuracy and scalability.

Position Summary

The Controller will be a strategic and operational finance leader responsible for overseeing all day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, and internal controls. This individual will play a critical role in strengthening processes, driving automation, and ensuring the finance function scales effectively as the business continues to grow and integrate new acquisitions.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented leader with a strong technical accounting foundation, a background in manufacturing, and the ability to guide teams through change in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, cost accounting, consolidations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage internal controls and compliance, ensuring a robust control environment that supports audit readiness and minimizes risk.
• Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Corporate Development to support budgeting, forecasting, and M&A integration efforts.
• Implement and standardize accounting processes and systems across multiple business units to drive efficiency and consistency.
• Lead due diligence and post-acquisition financial integration for newly acquired entities, ensuring accurate consolidation and alignment with corporate reporting standards.
• Support the CFO in preparing board materials, lender reporting, and other key stakeholder deliverables.
• Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing accounting team capable of supporting a rapidly growing organization.
• Evaluate and implement system enhancements (ERP and related tools) to improve accuracy, automation, and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3+ years in a leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial company.
• Experience in a private equity-backed environment.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and multi-entity consolidations.
• Proven success leading accounting teams through acquisitions and integrations.
• Strong ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar); exposure to ERP implementation or optimization.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Hands-on, collaborative leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset.
