Jobot is seeking a Controller in Paducah, KY for a permanent, on-site role in the construction industry. The candidate will oversee accounting, manage a small team, and ensure accurate project-based financials, payroll, and audits, with strong emphasis on WIP reporting and ERP proficiency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years progressive accounting/finance experience with 3+ years leading a team.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required.
• WIP reporting experience in construction preferred or willingness to learn.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Exposure to mid-market accounting platforms is a plus.
• CPA certification is a plus; union experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring financial reports and support tax filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting including ledgers, collections tracking and payments.
• Coordinate cross-functionally to track project financials and revenue recognition.
• Lead the close process end-to-end with governance and best practices.
• Serve as point of contact for audit requests and documentation.
• Mentor and manage a small accounting team with feedback.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting, explain performance to stakeholders.
• Support ad hoc financial and operational initiatives as needed.

Job Details

We are seeking a Controller with a solid background in the construction industry to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience with WIP reporting in the Construction industry, to go along with leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

• Own the preparation of recurring financial reports and support periodic tax filings and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting activity including ledger maintenance, collections tracking, and outgoing payments.
• Partner cross-functionally to track project-based financials and support close cycles with accurate cost and revenue recognition.
• Lead the close process end-to-end, ensuring alignment with standard accounting practices and internal governance.
• Act as a point of contact for audit-related requests and documentation.
• Manage and mentor a small team, providing guidance, oversight, and performance feedback.
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, including related reporting.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts, identifying trends and explaining financial performance to stakeholders.
• Support ad hoc financial and operational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 3 years of team leadership.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
• Experience with WIP reporting in the construction industry is preferred, or a willingness to learn
• Strong Excel capabilities and comfort working within accounting/ERP systems.
• Exposure to mid-market accounting platforms or similar tools is a plus.
• Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
• Union experience is a plus.
