Job summary

Quid is seeking an experienced Controller (CPA required) to lead our accounting function with strategic FP&A support. The role blends traditional controller duties with forward-looking financial planning, modeling and governance across the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with GAAP expertise, strong technical accounting background, and a track record of improving financial processes in a tech/AI environment. This remote position covers the continental United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller or senior leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, payroll oversight, month-end close).
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain internal controls and accounting policies; coordinate annual audits.
• Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and treasury activities.
• Manage tax compliance with external advisors.
• Develop KPI dashboards and management reporting for business performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-range planning.
• Evaluate opportunities and investments with financial analysis.

Job Title: Controller (CPA REQUIRED)

Compensation Range: $160-180k base + 15% Bonus (depending on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking finance professional to lead our accounting function while helping strengthen our financial planning and analysis capabilities. This role combines traditional Controller responsibilities with strategic finance support, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys both maintaining financial integrity and partnering with leadership to drive informed business decisions.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, has a strong technical accounting background, and is excited to contribute to budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and long-term financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, and month-end close.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and treasury activities.
• Manage tax compliance activities in partnership with external tax advisors.
• Develop KPI dashboards and management reporting that provide insight into business performance.
• Support long-range financial planning, scenario analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
• Evaluate business opportunities, capital investments, and operational initiatives through financial analysis.

Leadership & Process Improvement

• Lead and mentor the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and system efficiencies.
• Collaborate across departments to improve financial visibility and operational decision‑making.
• Support ERP optimization and implementation of finance technology initiatives as needed.

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Partner with executive leadership and FP&A team to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Build and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller or senior accounting leadership responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights for non-financial leaders.
• Proven ability to improve financial processes and implement best practices.
• At least 6+ years of experience in accounting/finance within a technology or AI company
• Valid U.S. work authorization is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetSuite, Bill.com, Salesforce and Avalara.
• Experience developing financial dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Experience using AI to automate workflows and processes
