Job summary

Inland Empire Paper Company in Millwood, WA, seeks a seasoned Controller to lead manufacturing and cost accounting, financial close, and ERP governance. You will drive standard and job costing, analyze variances, manage inventory controls, and partner with operations to improve profitability.

You will supervise AP/AR, payroll, and staff accounting, develop internal controls, oversee audits, and guide budgeting and forecasting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
  • ERP experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is preferred.
  • Five to seven years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • High integrity to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage standard costing, job costing, and inventory accounting processes.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, overhead, scrap, and production efficiencies.
  • Monitor inventory controls, including cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Partner with operations to monitor production costs and improve profitability.
  • Support ERP system maintenance and manufacturing financial reporting enhancements.
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Provide financial analysis to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor cash flow, capital expenditures, and working capital performance.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Maintain the general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulator requirements.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships.
  • Track KPI and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Supervise and mentor daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and staff accounting functions.
  • Establish performance goals and support employee development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, procurement, engineering, HR, customer service, and senior leadership.
  • Promote process improvement and accountability throughout the organization.

Job Description
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred but not required).
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing industry or related field preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred but not required.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience. JD Edwards (JDE) is preferred.
  • QuickBooks Online experience preferred but not required.
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity to ensure accurate reporting of financial data.
Additional Information
  • The Controller's pay range is $100,000 to $140,000, depending on experience and education.
