Job summary

Soni is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function and drive accurate financial reporting for the organization. You will oversee the accounting team, manage close cycles, and provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions and optimize performance.

The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, extensive experience in month-end close, and the ability to implement policies, controls, and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience leading an accounting team or department.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and cash management.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and ensure GAAP-compliant reporting.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Oversee reconciliations and accuracy of GL activity.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and variance analyses.
• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Ensure compliance with tax, financial, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor performance and identify profitability and efficiency improvements.
• Lead and mentor accounting staff.
• Evaluate systems and implement process improvements and automation.

Job description

The Controller oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This role leads the accounting team, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, manages close processes, and provides financial analysis to support business decisions and overall financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, payroll, and cash management.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements and ensure accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Oversee account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of general ledger activity.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections, and variance analysis.
• Coordinate annual audits and partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax, financial, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Evaluate accounting systems and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Partner with senior leadership on financial planning and strategic business initiatives.

Qualifications

• Previous experience leading an accounting team or department.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and internal controls.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• CPA or CMA preferred.

Compensation: $160,000-175,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
