Job summary

Alluvion Health seeks an experienced Controller to lead financial operations for a growing healthcare organization in Great Falls, MT. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee core accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, grant accounting, and audit preparation, while guiding the Finance team.

You will drive monthly close, GAAP-compliant reporting, and financial planning. A strategic partner to leaders, you’ll monitor performance, ensure compliance, and support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of fiscal management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting systems.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants receivable, and fixed assets.
  • Lead monthly and annual financial close processes, including general ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, budget variances, and operating results by program or service line.
  • Prepare financial reports for leadership, auditors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Partner with department leaders to monitor financial performance and understand budget variances.
  • Oversee grant accounting, restricted funds, and grant-related financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal grant requirements, including Uniform Guidance.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits, prepare audit schedules, and respond to auditor requests.
  • Support preparation of Medicare Cost Reports, UDS submissions, and other required financial filings.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop assigned Finance team members.
  • Work closely with the CFO to provide financial analysis and insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as a financial resource to leaders throughout the organization.
  • Support special projects, financial analysis, and organizational initiatives as needed

Alluvion Health is looking for an experiencedController to help lead the financial operations of our growing healthcare organization.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller plays a key leadership role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of Alluvion Health’s financial operations. This position oversees core accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, grant accounting, and audit preparation while leading members of the Finance team.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a finance professional who can combinetechnical accounting expertise, strong leadership, and sound judgment.

You’ll be successful in this role if you:

  • Have a strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
  • Are comfortable analyzing complex financial information and explaining it clearly to others
  • Have experience developing and improving accounting processes and procedures
  • Understand grant accounting and regulatory compliance
  • Can manage multiple deadlines and priorities without losing attention to detail
  • Are confident supervising, coaching, and developing staff
  • Work well independently while collaborating closely with leadership and other departments
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Are highly organized, analytical, and solution-focused
Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree inAccounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • Minimum offive (5) years of fiscal management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting systems
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • At leastthree (3) years of financial management experience in a healthcare organization
  • Experience in aFederally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, nonprofit healthcare organization, or similar environment
  • Experience with federal grant regulations and Uniform Guidance
  • Experience with healthcare financial reporting, Medicare Cost Reports, or UDS reporting
  • Previous supervisory or finance leadership experience
