Job Summary
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnered with a well-established company in the manufacturing space to help them hire a Controller. This is a hands‑on financial leadership role within a lean accounting team, with direct exposure to ownership and responsibility for the company's accounting, cost accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate comes from a small to midsize manufacturing environment and is comfortable operating at both the strategic and detailed accounting levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general accounting activities, including the general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable oversight, inventory accounting, and month‑end and year‑end close.
- Lead manufacturing and cost accounting activities, including product costing, production variances, inventory controls, new‑product costing, and analysis of labor, material, and overhead costs.
- Prepare financial statements, forecasts, cash‑flow analyses, budgets, and other reporting for ownership and company leadership.
- Partner with manufacturing and operational teams to analyze costs, identify variances, support pricing decisions, and improve financial performance.
- Lead annual company and departmental budgeting processes and provide ongoing analysis of actual performance against forecasts and budgets.
- Manage accounting and financial reporting related to capital expenditures and other significant business investments.
- Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and other financial compliance requirements.
- Work directly with ownership to develop ad hoc financial analyses, revise forecasts, evaluate business performance, and quickly respond to changing reporting needs.
Qualifications and Must-Haves
- Strong progressive accounting experience with demonstrated Controller‑level or comparable financial leadership responsibilities.
- Significant accounting experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, including product costing, inventory, production variances, labor, materials, and overhead.
- Hands‑on experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, general ledger accounting, and financial analysis.
- Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems; IQMS experience is helpful but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Ability to succeed within a lean accounting organization where the Controller remains directly involved in day‑to‑day accounting and analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly adjust reports, forecasts, and financial models based on changing business needs.
- Comfortable working directly with company ownership and operating in a fast‑moving environment where priorities can shift quickly.
