Hometown Plumbing, Electrical, & HVAC in Johnson City, TN is seeking an experienced accounting professional to lead day-to-day financial operations and potentially advance into a Controller role. This onsite position offers ownership of the accounting cycle and close processes.

You will manage A/P, A/R, reconciliations, budgeting, payroll support, and provide financial insight to operational leaders, with training provided to grow into a leadership role within a growing company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance.
• Experience managing the full accounting cycle.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Proficient in QuickBooks; ServiceTitan experience is a strong plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical thinking.
• Experience in the home services, construction, or skilled trades industry is preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and assist with the month-end close process.
• Record journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Monitor job costing and profitability reporting.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company accounting policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Support payroll by ensuring accurate labor and job cost allocations.
• Work closely with operational leaders to provide financial insight and improve business performance.
• Coordinate with the Divisional Controller on monthly reporting, audits, tax preparation, and other accounting initiatives.
• Continuously look for ways to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.

Help build the financial foundation of a growing company.

Hometown Plumbing, Electrical, & HVAC is looking for an experienced accounting professional to lead our day-to-day financial operations. Whether you're an established Controller or a seasoned Bookkeeper ready to take the next step in your career, we'd love to talk with you.

What You'll Own

What You Bring

• Experience in the home services, construction, or skilled trades industry is preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent experience will be considered.

100% satisfied. My experience with Hometown Plumbing could not have been any better. The staff (both the scheduler and the plumber) were extremely professional, helpful, and polite. My appointment was scheduled in a timely manner. I received a reminder call about 30 minutes before he arrived. The final cost was better than I expected. The work was done perfectly. The job site was cleaned up better than it was when he started. Thanks for doing a great job!

We had 3 sinks and faucets replaced in our bathrooms. The technicians were very professional and timely. Megan, the receptionist was very helpful and kept us abreast of the time the materials were to arrive, the day they would be installed, and the approximate time the tech, William, would arrive. I would highly recommend this company for all of your plumbing needs.

Called Hometown Plumbing Monday morning about water heater replacement. They came out that afternoon and brought two different water heaters for me to look at. William explained both of them very well. They were very clean, nice, punctual, cleaned up after themselves, and gave me a great price on both the water heater and labor.
