Job summary

Solomon Page is partnered with a consumer products company seeking a Controller to oversee one business line in Irvine, CA. This hands-on leader will own the close process and financial reporting, ensuring GAAP compliance and alignment with corporate policies.

You will drive external audits, strengthen internal controls, mentor the accounting team, and partner with FP&A to guide strategic decisions and growth initiatives across the unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership.
• Big 4 or national public accounting experience preferred.

Job description

We are partnered with a CPG company seeking a Controller to oversee one of their business lines.

• Salary: 160-180k + bonus

Responsibilities

• Own financial reporting and month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for a key business division
• Lead preparation and review of financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting packages
• Ensure accurate reporting and alignment with corporate accounting policies and U.S. GAAP
• Research and resolve technical accounting matters including revenue recognition, inventory, leases, and other complex transactions
• Lead external audit activities and maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
• Partner with business leadership and FP&A to provide financial insight and support decision-making
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
• Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, automation, and accounting systems initiatives
• Support business growth initiatives, integrations, and other strategic accounting projects
• Serve as a hands-on accounting leader who can operate effectively across both corporate and operational teams

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Big 4 or national public accounting experience strongly preferred
• Prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager experience
• Strong U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, financial reporting, and close experience
• Experience managing external audits and strengthening internal controls
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams
• Strong consolidation, intercompany, and multi-entity accounting experience
• ERP systems experience and strong Excel skills
• Consumer products, apparel, retail, eCommerce, or other product-based industry experience preferred
• Experience with rapidly growing or evolving organizations is highly valued
