Job summary

Green Star Exteriors, LLC, located near Philadelphia in Holmes, PA, seeks a seasoned Controller to oversee financial health, accuracy, and compliance across the organization. You will manage accounting operations, job costing, forecasting, and reporting to guide strategic decisions and sustainable growth.

The role collaborates with executives and external partners, directs an accounting team, and drives budget development for multiple construction projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in the construction industry (preferred).
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, including percentage of completion, WIP reporting, and retention.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage 300, Foundation, Viewpoint).
• Advanced Excel skills and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including A/P, A/R, general ledger, payroll, and cash management.
• Refine job costing, project billing, WIP schedules, and margin tracking.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts across construction projects.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and tax/audit requirements.
• Coordinate with CPAs, auditors, and financial institutions.
• Implement and maintain accounting systems and internal controls.
• Provide financial reporting and insights to leadership.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team.
• Support long-term budgeting and capital planning.

Position Summary

The Controller oversees the financial health and compliance of the organization, ensuring accurate accounting, job costing, forecasting, and financial reporting. This role works closely with executive leadership, managers, and external partners to guide financial decisions and support sustainable growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred
• 5+ years of Bookkeeping or Accounting experience in the construction industry (preferred)
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, including percentage of completion, WIP reporting, and retention
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Foundation, Viewpoint)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with general contractors or subcontractors
• Quickbooks Certification or experience with Quickbooks Desktop
• Experience with Job Costing
