Base pay range

$200,000.00/yr - $225,000.00/yr

Are you a Controller with a solid background in commercial real estate? If so, this remote Controller position is ideal for someone residing in New Jersey or New York who could go into the New York office as needed for meetings.

DETAILS:

Controller opportunity with a leading, national commercial real estate firm. The ideal candidate will have industry tenure and be able to lead the full accounting close and assist with accounting and software implementation of newly acquired companies.

Responsibilities:

1. Own and drive the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
2. Lead the general ledger accounting function, including journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis.
3. Manage and mentor a growing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
4. Oversee daily accounting operations and directly supervise an accounting manager who oversees the accounting staff.
5. Implement and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support operational efficiency and scalability.
6. Support systems and accounting integration and implementations as new companies are acquired.
7. Lead or support ad hoc finance and accounting initiatives related to corporate transactions, system upgrades, audits, or process enhancements.
8. Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment on financial impacts of business activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in commercial real estate (public accounting background preferred but not required).
• Experience with accounting integrations following acquisitions.
• Proven success in leading operational month-end close and building efficient accounting processes.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative approach.
