Job summary

Heartland Acoustics & Interiors seeks an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and finance operations as a key member of the Leadership Team. You will supervise accounting and administrative staff, ensure GAAP compliance, and partner with the executive team on strategic growth initiatives.

In this hands-on, fast-paced role, you will manage treasury, month-end close, budgeting, and financial reporting while driving process improvements and system enhancements in Sage 100 Contractor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience with leadership responsibility.
• Experience in construction accounting preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting skills.
• Experience preparing for audits or lender reviews is a plus.

Responsibilities

Heartland Acoustics & Interiors is an acoustic ceiling construction company seeking an experienced Controller to join its dynamic team. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing all accounting and financial operations, ensuring the company’s financial health, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This hands‑on leadership position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast‑paced environment, working closely with the Executive Team and supervising accounting and administrative staff. Responsibilities

• Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making
• Lead the Accounting Department, overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
• Supervise and support accounting, administrative, and clerical staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews
• Maintain and document accounting policies and internal controls to ensure compliance and accuracy
• Drive process improvements and automation within the department
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Manage treasury functions, including cash flow planning, banking relationships, and collections strategy
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning initiatives
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support company growth
• Prepare and analyze internal financial reports and dashboards for leadership
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all tax, payroll, and government reporting requirements
• Coordinate annual external audits and prepare necessary documentation
• Monitor debt levels and ensure compliance with financial covenants
• Administer the Sage 100 Contractor system and lead system improvements
• Support pricing analysis, contract review, and capital investment evaluation
• Perform other duties as assigned by the President/CEO

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including team leadership
• Experience in construction accounting
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Sage 100 or similar ERP system
• Ability to translate financial information into actionable recommendations for operational leaders
• Experience preparing for audits or lender reviews (preferred)
