Job summary

Lane Search partners with a fast-growing DFW client to fill a confidential Controller role responsible for owning the accounting function, month-end close, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting support for the executive leadership team.

The ideal candidate has a CPA and 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong Excel and ERP system skills, and is comfortable partnering directly with senior leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance; CPA preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience (Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar).
• Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
• Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and partnering directly with leadership.
• Strong Excel skills; ERP/accounting system experience preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Manage the month-end close process, including general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and close checklist management
• Prepare monthly financial statements and recurring management reports for leadership review
• Analyze account activity and variances; help explain what is driving results and flag issues early
• Support cash reporting, working capital visibility, and related financial processes
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting support as needed
• Maintain strong documentation, internal controls, and accounting process discipline
• Improve recurring workflows, reporting templates, and close efficiency over time
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teammates on accounting questions, reporting needs, and process improvements
• Coordinate with external accountants, banks, and other financial partners for audits, tax support, and recurring requests
• Handle additional accounting priorities as the business requires
