Ready to Lead with Precision?

Are you a finance professional who thrives on accuracy, analysis, and strategic insight? Do you bring both technical expertise and leadership to your accounting work?

We’re looking for an experienced Controller to oversee the firm’s financial management, accounting, and reporting functions. You’ll ensure integrity and compliance across all financial processes, partner with leadership to inform strategic decisions, and help strengthen the firm’s operational foundation as we continue to grow.

What We Do

Versant is a multi-family office serving high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families with a holistic approach. Our services go beyond wealth and investment management. We integrate tax planning, estate and legacy planning, liquidity and exit planning, retirement planning, family governance and education, risk management, lifestyle/household concierge services, and more.

What You’ll Do

As Controller, you’ll lead the firm’s financial management, accounting, and reporting functions. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial data, supports strategic decision-making, and maintains compliance with regulatory and fiduciary requirements. The Controller oversees all aspects of corporate accounting, financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, and audit preparation, while partnering closely with operations, compliance, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and closings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes in partnership with leadership, providing analysis and insights to guide decisions.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the full payables cycle, including invoice processing, approvals, and payments.
  • Manage accounts payable, receivable, and corporate credit cards.
Billing & Revenue Operations
  • Oversee advisory fee calculations and billing processes using Black Diamond.
  • Ensure consistency between billing, AUM reporting, and client contracts.
  • Collaborate with client service and operations teams to resolve billing exceptions or client inquiries.
Tax, Audit & Compliance Support
  • Liaise with external CPA firm for tax filings.
  • Support SEC exam and compliance requests related to financial records and capital requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for ownership changes, equity plans, and partner capital accounts.
What We’re Looking For

You’ll thrive in this role if you combine analytical precision with strong leadership and integrity. You bring a hands-on approach, technical depth, and the ability to communicate financial insights that drive informed decisions.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation required.
  • 7–10+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or controller capacity.
  • Prior experience within a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), asset management, or family office environment preferred.
  • Strong systems acumen (QuickBooks, Bill.com, Black Diamond, Box, CRM).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and integrity.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a growth environment.
Why Versant

We’re more than a multi-family office. We’re a team built on integrity, collaboration, and purpose. We believe in empowering both our clients and our people through a culture of trust, accountability, and growth.
