Your Part-Time Controller LLC (YPTC) is hiring a dedicated Controller for nonprofit organizations in Chicago. The role involves outsourced Controller duties across multiple nonprofit clients, with a hybrid work arrangement and a standard 35-hour work week.

Successful candidates will bring 5–7+ years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple clients and staff interactions remotely and on-site. CPA is a plus, with competitive compensation and benefits.

We are looking foradedicated, personable, hands-onControllerseeking a dynamic opportunity to guide our clients and providetransformative accounting services.Successful candidates must be comfortableworkingwith multiple clients both virtually and on-site.TheControllerwill interact with clients,their staff, Board ofDirectors,and Finance Committees on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Serve as the outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple non-profit clients. Your responsibilities would include:

• Transforming nonprofit client financial departments to help them meet their mission!
• Financial reporting for management and board decision making and presentations
• Recommending and implementing improvements to accounting, operations, internal controls, and compliance policies and procedures, supporting client strategy and best practices
• Transactional activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable (revenue recognition and billing), and payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and maintaining workpapers
• Analysis and data visualization, budgeting and forecasting
• Grant management, allocations, and funder reporting
• Prepare for and manage annual audit
• Client and staff training opportunities

Qualifications

• Passionate about working in or supporting non-profit organizations
• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
• 5-7plus years accounting experience
• Experience working in a remote environment preferred
• Ability to manage and lead multiple clients, work independently, and be responsive on a timely basis
• Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with multiple GL packages, especially QuickBooks, and electronic bill pay systems
• Non-profit accounting, public accounting experience, and/or consulting experience is a plus but not required
• CPA certification is a plus
• Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus

Starting annual base salary is $100,000 to $125,000 based on a 35-hour work week for this non‑exempt position. Total compensation may increase with overtime pay and eligibility for various bonuses. A professional development reimbursement and technology stipend are also provided on an annual basis.
