Job summary

CFS, a Chicago-based company, seeks a top accounting leader to own financial operations and reporting. You will partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and key financial decisions while building a high-performing accounting team in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

As Controller, you will manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, oversee accounts payable/receivable, inventory accounting, and ERP-driven reporting enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior Controller or senior accounting leadership experience with ownership of the full month-end close process.
• Strong experience with inventory accounting, ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Oversee wholesale accounts receivable, retailer deductions, remittance reconciliations, and cash application processes.
• Manage accounts payable operations, vendor relationships, and payment processes across domestic and international suppliers.
• Lead inventory accounting, COGS reporting, inventory reconciliations, and gross margin analysis.
• Serve as the accounting lead for ERP systems, reporting enhancements, and process improvements.
• Manage accounting staff and support audits, budgeting, forecasting, and cross-functional financial initiatives.
