Job summary

Emergency Restoration Xperts (ERX) is seeking an experienced Controller who will lead the accounting function, ensure accurate financial data, and partner with executives on strategy. This hands-on role includes directing reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, while coaching a growing accounting team.

You'll collaborate with Payroll/HR on incentive payments and work with external firms to keep tax requirements in check, driving improvements across systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership.
• Construction/restoration industry accounting experience required; insurance/restoration billing a plus.
• Strong job costing, WIP reporting, and progress billing knowledge.
• Advanced Excel; familiarity with NetSuite, Paylocity, DASH or Albi preferred.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to executives and non-financial partners.

Responsibilities

• Direct all accounting operations, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and month-end close.
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team with clear goals and standards.
• Partner with leadership to build the annual budget, forecast cash flow, and deliver dashboards on revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, etc.
• Own job costing and WIP reporting for revenue recognition and project profitability.
• Oversee accounts receivable and collections; support cash flow initiatives.
• Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate bonus, commission, and incentive payments.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs and auditors to stay ahead of financial/tax requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement across accounting systems and processes (NetSuite, Paylocity, DASH, Albi).

About the Role

The Controller leads ERX's accounting function and owns the accuracy and integrity of our financial data. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll direct financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls; coach and develop a growing accounting team; and partner closely with executive leadership and operations to make sure our numbers tell the real story of the business — and help shape what comes next. You'll also work cross-functionally with Payroll/HR to ensure bonus, commission, and incentive compensation is calculated and paid accurately.

Requirements

What You'll Do

• Partner with executive leadership to build the annual budget, forecast cash flow, and deliver executive dashboards on revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, and more.
• Own job costing and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting to ensure accurate revenue recognition and project profitability.
• Oversee accounts receivable and collections, and support organization-wide cash flow initiatives.
• Partner with Payroll to ensure bonus, commission, and incentive payments are accurate and on time.
• Coordinate with outside CPA firms and auditors, and keep ERX ahead of changing financial and tax requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement across accounting systems and processes, including NetSuite, Paylocity, DASH, and Albi.

What you Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience leading or supervising a team.
• Construction or restoration industry accounting experience is required; insurance restoration billing or TPA/Contractor Connection experience is a strong plus.
• Strong command of job costing, WIP reporting, and progress billing.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with NetSuite, Paylocity, DASH, or Albi preferred.
• A leader who communicates financial information clearly to both executives and non-financial partners, and who holds a team accountable with care.
