Macdonald & Company partners with a leading retail owner/operator to appoint a Controller who can run property accounting for a growing portfolio and lead a team of dedicated professionals.

The Controller will oversee monthly closes, CAM/t1enant recovery reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting, while partnering with senior leadership to strengthen controls and reporting. This role offers a meaningful impact from day one within a collaborative, entrepreneurial team.

Formación

• Experience running property accounting for a real estate portfolio.
• Proven ability to lead/coach accounting teams.
• Strong grounding in CAM and tenant recovery reconciliations.

Responsabilidades

• Run monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Own CAM and tenant recovery reconciliations and disputes.
• Lead annual property budgeting and forecast variance analysis.
• Oversee AP, AR, and general ledger accounting.
• Build accounting policies, controls, and scalable systems.
• Coordinate property insurance, renewals, and audits.
• Coach the team with clear expectations and accountability.
• Lead accounting through acquisitions and dispositions.
• Support audits, tax preparation, and lender reporting.
• Partner with Property Management to improve operations.

Macdonald & Company is pleased to partner with a leading retail owner/operator to appoint a Controller.

The Controller is a candidate who can run property accounting for a retail real estate portfolio and keep the numbers right. You'll lead a team of Assistant Controllers, Property Accountants, and the AP/AR/Collections group, and you'll work closely with senior leadership.

This isn't a hands-off role. You'll set the bar for your team, coach people up, and fix what's broken in the accounting function. We want someone who solves problems before they're asked to and earns trust across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Run the monthly, quarterly, and annual close: financials, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, supporting schedules.
• Own CAM and tenant recovery reconciliations, including billing disputes.
• Lead annual property budgeting and support forecasting and variance analysis.
• Oversee AP, AR, collections, and general ledger accounting.
• Build better accounting policies, controls, and systems as the business grows.
• Handle property insurance: certificates, renewals, workers' comp audits, claims.
• Coach your team: clear expectations, real feedback, real accountability.
• Lead accounting through acquisitions, dispositions, and management transitions.
• Support audits, tax prep, and reporting to ownership and lenders.
• Partner with Property Management and leadership to solve problems and improve how things run.
