Job summary

Digital Cloak, LLC is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and partner with the CFO on financial reporting, planning, and risk management. The role focuses on establishing policy, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring GAAP compliance across all financial processes.

The Controller will direct ERP systems implementation, oversee the close process, and produce timely financial reports for executive leadership.

Job Summary:

The Controller reports to the CFO and is an integral member of the corporate leadership team. The Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the company. The Controller will establish and maintain the company’s overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies in support of the company’s strategic objectives and processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include general ledger, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
• Oversees accounting-related training programs and identifies training needs.

Essential Functions:

• Devise and oversee implementation of accounting policy
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Implements and maintains all aspects of the Company’s enterprise resource planning system and facilitates training for employees as appropriate.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Supervise the monthly close process, monthly billings to customers, collection of accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, expense reporting and payroll.
• Present financial reports and control matters to executive leadership.
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Leads pricing strategy and cost/price proposal development for new business pursuits and contract modifications, in coordination with Business Development and Contracts, along with financial analysis emphasizing capital investments and contract negotiations.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit, and works with external tax preparers on the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements.
• Work with program and project managers to evaluate budget and forecast comparisons.
• Files quarterly and annual reports with the regulatory agencies as required.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
• Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, planning, and risk management.
• Promote and institute process improvement initiatives throughout the close and reporting cycle.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Deep expertise in GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and the ERP and close-automation platforms modern finance teams rely on.
• Experience with Unanet (or comparable GovCon-specific ERP/timekeeping systems) strongly preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills and strong knowledge of DFARS, FAR as well as DCAA and DCMA compliance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Experience applying AI-enabled tools to accounting close, reconciliation, or reporting processes to improve efficiency and support scalability, a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in government contract pricing, including cost volume development, indirect rate structuring (fringe, overhead, G&A), and cost- or price-based proposal strategies for competitive bids and task orders.

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation strongly preferred.

Physical Job Requirements:

• This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time
• This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel Requirements:

• This position has up to 25% travel requirements

Primary Work Location:

Digital Cloak headquarters, meetings within the Northern Virginia Area (NVA).
