Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and audits.
  • Experience with ERP systems or financial management software.

Responsibilities

The Controller is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, forecasting, compliance, and reporting functions for a growing multi-entity organization.

This role provides hands‑on leadership across day‑to‑day accounting operations, month‑end and year‑end close, financial reporting, budgeting support, billing, collections, audits, cash flow management, and process improvement initiatives. The position partners closely with executive leadership to ensure financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strong accountability across the finance and accounting function.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on accounting leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, experience managing teams, and the ability to balance strategic financial oversight with day‑to‑day execution. Success in this role requires ownership, initiative, sound judgment, and a willingness to personally engage in accounting and financial activities as needed to ensure deadlines and organizational objectives are met.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting Operations
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Ensure financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules are completed accurately and delivered by established deadlines.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, sub‑ledgers, and supporting accounting records.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and cash management activities.
  • Support financial reporting across corporate and operating entities.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages for leadership, including variance analysis and key financial insights.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting systems, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors, auditors, and other professional service providers as needed.
  • Support timely processing of recurring financial obligations, payments, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accounting processes support accurate invoicing, timely expense processing, and reliable financial reporting.
Cash Management & Forecasting
  • Maintain and update cash flow forecasts across the organization.
  • Monitor cash positions and liquidity needs to ensure operational obligations are adequately planned for.
  • Provide regular cash flow analysis, updates, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Identify potential cash flow risks and proactively recommend corrective actions.
  • Support banking relationship management and treasury-related activities as appropriate.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Support external audits, coordinate with auditors, and prepare required documentation.
  • Monitor adherence to accounting policies, corporate governance practices, and risk management procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, improve accuracy, and reduce operational risk.
Financial Planning & Analysis Support
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Partner with executive leadership and department leaders by providing financial analysis, recommendations, and reporting support.
  • Monitor actual performance against budget and identify material variances requiring management attention.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of revenue trends, operating performance, and key business metrics.
  • Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities and provide data‑driven analysis to support management decision‑making.

External Reporting & Stakeholder Support
  • Prepare financial analysis, schedules, and supporting documentation for external reporting requirements.
  • Support financial information requests from external stakeholders, lenders, advisors, or ownership groups as needed.
  • Ensure required reporting packages and supporting documents are completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation to support reporting, audit, tax, and compliance needs.

Systems & Process Improvement
  • Drive automation and process efficiency within accounting and reporting workflows.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize ERP systems and other financial tools.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
