Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a seasoned Planner for heavy industrial projects in the Greater Houston area. You will plan, schedule, monitor costs and help estimate projects, interfacing with engineering, logistics and finance teams.

You will need 5+ years in control valve planning and valve technician experience, with strong skills in P&ID interpretation, BOMs and field verification. AACE/PMI certs are preferred, and a high school diploma suffices for entry.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience reading P&IDs, valve specs and location plans.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing test/work packages for field issuance.
  • Proficient with computers and business software including SAP and Primavera P6.
  • Control Valve maintenance or CV maintenance planning experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interact effectively with planning, scheduling, engineering, logistics, purchasing, finance and QA teams.
  • Understand control valve construction and workflow processes.
  • Lead and QA/QC work packages after completion and translate preventive maintenance into work packages.
  • Develop control valve work scope and create construction work packages per site guidelines.

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Planner is generally responsible for planning and scheduling heavy industrial engineering projects, monitoring project costs and/or estimating projects. Work will be performed under minimal supervision in the Greater Houston area.

Primary Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with multi-functional areas (Planning, Scheduling, Engineering, Logistics, Purchasing, Finance, Quality, etc.)
  • Understands control valve construction and workflow processes.
  • Ability to accurately perform other duties as assigned.
  • Understands quality standards as outlined by site.
Ideal Background

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Certification: AACE International or Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is preferred.

Experience: Requires 5+ years as a control valve planner and 5+ years as a control valve technician.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s, valve specs, and location plans
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing test /work packages for issuance to the field
  • Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) OneNote, SAP, Primavera P6.
  • Control Valve Tech maintenance experience or CV maintenance planning
  • Ability to QA/QC work packages after work completion.
  • Ability to understand Preventive Maintenance programs and how to translate that to work packages.
  • Assists with the development of the control valve work scope.
  • Identify, scope, and produce construction work packages for execution.
  • Ability to read BOM and identify parts need for valve overhauls
  • Perform and lead field walks for site verification to complete control valve surveys.
  • Provide leadership in risk management, contractor safety, and mitigating safety issues in operations
  • Organizing materials through expediting, quoting prices, and ensuring the correct parts are available for jobs
  • Create detailed planning activities in Cleopatra for each work order utilizing planning templates as applicable. Activities include individual tasks, manpower, durations, and assigned discipline.
  • Provide daily schedule updates during outage execution.
  • Create job planning packages for each work order per site guidelines for both internal and external distribution, e.g. bid events, contractor field personnel, etc.
  • Support Management of Change process, recognizing plant changes and following through on all documentation and recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate scope, revisions, and activity breakdowns to other groups.
  • Uphold and communicate high standards of housekeeping in assigned areas and on all job sites.
  • Complete close out and documentation as required by standards and procedures.
