Creekstone Farms Premium Beef in Arkansas City, KS, seeks a Controls Systems Technician to support and maintain electrical and control systems throughout the facility.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance of PLC-based controls in a chilled environment, collaboration with engineering teams, and adherence to safety standards to ensure reliable operation of production equipment.

Qualifications

• Maintain and troubleshoot advanced control systems.
• Calibrate and preventive maintenance for electrical systems in 30–34°F environments.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Software engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure machines and components are operational, including safety devices.
• Provide support, troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance for controls and electrical systems in a chilled environment.
• Perform daily observations and inspections and report any nonconformities to Creekstone Management.
• Coordinate with Creekstone personnel to collect subsystem observations.
• Assist in establishing timelines and priorities for repairs with management.
• Work safely per Creekstone Safety Standards and Protocols.

Job description

This position will be responsible for supporting & maintaining electrical and control systems throughout the facility.

Essential Functions

• Controls Systems Technicians will be responsible for the following

Activities Throughout The Facility

• Ensure that all machines electrical or control components are

operational, including safety devices and safety systems are working properly.

• Provide support, troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive

maintenance for all the controls and electrical systems housed in a cooler environment (30 to 34 degrees Fahrenheit).

• Conduct daily observations & inspections of all the systems. This

includes following up and inquiring with each of the key Creekstone Operations personnel regarding each major Sub-System to collect their thoughts and observations regarding how everything is operating.

• Report to Creekstone Management any system that is not operating

within the normal guidelines and receive direction on the required next steps to return the systemto normal operations.

• Work with Creekstone Management to establish the timelines and

priorities for any repairs or corrective actions that may be needed.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• The ability to learn, understand, troubleshoot & support advanced

control systems, which are highly computer-driven.

• The ability to learn, understand, troubleshoot & support the

Electrical Systems Made Up Of Several Parts

• The mechanical system
• The sensing and actuation devices
• The PLC control systems and the PLC software functionality

(NOTE: No PLC Programming Experience is preferred.

• The ability to maintain and make recommendations to improve

automated processes.

• The ability to work closely with several different engineering

disciplines to effectively maintain and trouble shoot the new system (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Software).

• The ability to collaboratively problem-solve.

• Strong analytical skills to effectively and efficiently solve day to

day problems.

• The ability to work safely at all times per Creekstone Safety

Standards and Protocols.

• The ability to work at times without direct supervision.

• The ability and commitment to provide excellent & accurate

communication to all stake holders.

• Basic to advanced understanding of the following;

• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

• Photo Eyes, Sensors and Scanners

• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

• Solenoids, cylinders, and airlines

• How PLCs & Computer Systems control per each major sub-system to

effectively troubleshoot

• How major PLCs, Scanners, Smart Devices & Computers are

connected in the Creekstone Ethernet Network

• Bar Code Label Printers and Applicators
