Job summary

KBR is seeking a Control Systems Engineering Lead in Houston to drive complex projects from development through execution, ensuring cost, scope and schedule adherence. You will lead engineering design, manage risk, and coordinate with engineering, procurement and project controls to deliver safe, compliant systems.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in oil & gas or heavy industries, strong process control knowledge, and proven leadership. PE/P.Eng.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • 10+ years of industrial oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industries experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical control systems leadership.
  • Experience developing process control specifications and control system design.
  • Experience leading initiatives and managing suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience in process control systems and network architectures: DCS, PLC, SIS, BMS.
  • Demonstrated experience in instrumentation.
  • Experience with electrical schematic drawings, logic diagrams, and panel schedules.
  • Knowledge of telecoms, cyber security, and process analyzer engineering.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects through development to execution with cost, scope, and schedule oversight.
  • Influence internal and external resources through relationship building.
  • Manage execution of engineering design to meet objectives.
  • Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, and scope targets.
  • Forecast and report on cost budgeting and schedules.
  • Provide clear scopes of work and construction packages.
  • Analyze and manage project risks.
  • Facilitate safety and constructability reviews.
  • Create requisitions and spare parts lists.
  • Report on cost and schedule attainment.
  • Communicate with leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure all project documentation is completed.

Control Systems Engineering (CSE) Lead

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:


  • Drive projects in various stages, from development to execution, with an eye for managing cost, scope, schedule, and internal reporting requirements

  • Use strong organizational savvy and relationship building skills to influence both internal and external resources

  • Under broad direction, this individual has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to manage the execution of the engineering design in accordance with applicable specifications and standards to achieve project objectives

  • Assures projects meet project objectives, including cost, schedule, and scope

  • Ensures accurate cost budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and reporting of assigned projects

  • Provides clear, accurate scopes of work and construction packages including documentation

  • Analyzes and manages risks on projects

  • Facilitates safety and constructability reviews

  • Creates requisitions for engineered items and development of spare parts list

  • Reports on cost (including forecasting) and schedule attainment

  • Communicates and resolves technical and commercial issues as related to project objectives

  • Successfully communicates with leadership, engineers, designers, document control, procurement, project controls, and all other departments

  • Ensures all project documentation is completed


Required Education, Experience, & Skills


  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 10+ years of industrial oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industries experience

  • 5+ years of experience in technical control systems leadership

  • Experience developing process control specifications and control system design

  • Experience leading initiatives and managing suppliers

  • Demonstrated experience in process control systems and network architectures: DCS, PLC, SIS, BMS

  • Demonstrated experience in instrumentation

  • Experience with electrical schematic drawings, logic diagrams, and panel schedules

  • Knowledge of and exposure to telecoms, cyber security, and process analyzer engineering.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing project challenges.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date.
