Job summary

Harris Group in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team on diverse industrial projects, from proposals through commissioning and start-up. You will lead control systems testing, equipment commissioning, PLC/DCS/SCADA planning and design, and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver complete, constructible drawings for construction.

Travel up to 20% may be required; a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 3–8

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; 3–8 years PLC programming and HMI/SCADA configuration; 1 year field experience.
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and motor control schematics.
  • Experience with Ethernet and control system communication protocols.
  • Travel up to 20% may be required.
  • Registered Professional Engineer preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct control systems testing, equipment commissioning, field testing and system acceptance.
  • PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming and upgrade.
  • Support multi-disciplinary teams on engineering projects and ensure successful delivery.
  • Develop drawings and specifications for construction, including panel details and wiring termination diagrams.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines on equipment layout and cost estimating.

Harris Group is looking for a Control Systems Engineer to work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers on a variety of industrial applications. The Responsibilities
  • Directing control systems testing, equipment commissioning, field testing and system acceptance including operational readiness testing.
  • PLC, DCS, HMI and SCADA system planning, design, programming and upgrade.
  • Supporting multi-disciplinary teams on engineering projects, with a demonstrated commitment to successful project delivery.
  • Developing drawings and specifications for construction. Drawings for construction include network communication block diagrams, control panel details, wiring termination diagrams, instrument location plans, and instrument installation details.
  • Equipment selection, cost estimating, equipment layout and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
The Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, and 3-8 years of experience in PLC programming and HMI or SCADA configuration, with 1 year of field experience.

  • Working knowledge of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and motor control schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability using Ethernet and control system communication protocols.
  • Experience with Rockwell, Wonderware, and similar PLC/HMI software.
  • Travel up to 20% of the year may be required.
  • A registered professional engineer is preferred.

  • Salary Range: $90,000-$110,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
