Job description

Gonzales, Denham Springs, Prairieville, Baton Rouge area

$110,000 to $140,000 depending on experience + bonus + full benefits

5 days onsite, travel up to 5%

By 2030, this company intends to reduce the cost and time required to deliver factory automation control systems by tenfold. That is the mission.

It means rethinking how automation projects are delivered from the ground up. Using AI agents, digital twins, robotics, and modern engineering tools to fundamentally change how control systems are designed, delivered, and supported.

Leadership openly describes this as a moonshot. If the exact path was already known, it would not be one. What they do have is a strong starting point and a team that enjoys tackling difficult engineering problems.

If an engineer is excited by helping build the next generation of industrial automation, they will likely find this environment very appealing.

About the role

This position sits within a small control systems integrator that has been operating for over 30 years. The team is around ten people and works across several core industries including baking, cement, specialty plastics compounding, distribution, and regional water and wastewater facilities.

Engineers in this company are responsible for the full lifecycle of automation projects. That includes design, programming, integration, and startup, as well as working directly with clients to deliver solutions that operate reliably in production environments.

Because the company is small, engineers play a visible role in projects and often become the primary technical contact for the client.

What you’ll do
  • Design and implement industrial control systems from concept through commissioning
  • Program Rockwell PLC systems and develop HMI applications using platforms such as FactoryTalk, Ignition, or AVEVA / Wonderware
  • Work directly with clients to understand operational needs and translate them into automation solutions
  • Manage project execution including scope, schedule, and engineering deliverables
  • Develop or modify electrical drawings and control panel designs where required
  • Configure industrial networks including Ethernet/IP architectures
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing system improvements
  • Contribute to internal initiatives focused on next generation automation, including AI assisted engineering and digital twin workflows
What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of industrial automation experience
  • Strong PLC programming experience, ideally Rockwell / Allen Bradley
  • Experience with at least one major HMI platform such as FactoryTalk, Ignition, or AVEVA
  • Understanding of control panels, instrumentation, and industrial networks
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and interact directly with clients
  • Comfortable working within a small engineering team where responsibilities are broad
  • Engineering degree preferred, although strong practical experience will also be considered

Engineers who come from systems integrators often adapt quickly to this environment because they are used to working across multiple technologies and industries.

About the company

The company has been delivering industrial automation projects for over three decades and has built long standing relationships with clients across Louisiana and the surrounding region.

Unlike larger integrators where engineers may focus on only one part of a project, this environment provides the opportunity to develop deep expertise across the entire automation stack.

Engineers will work under a Professional Engineer, meaning time spent in the role can count toward earning a PE license in the United States, which the company actively encourages.

Compensation and benefits
  • Base salary typically between $110,000 and $140,000 depending on experience
  • Performance bonus based on company results
  • Senior engineers regularly earn $150,000+ total compensation
  • 401k with employer match
  • Two weeks vacation plus sick leave

The position is based in the Baton Rouge area and is primarily onsite, with travel typically around 5%.
