Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Control Systems Designer in Houston, TX to develop 2-D/3-D designs for control systems engineering, including earthwork, drainage, road design, and foundations. You will create detailed scale models, review drawings for quality, and coordinate across disciplines to ensure compliant, high-quality project design.

The role requires a bachelor's degree with 2–5 years of experience (or 6–9 years without a degree).

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience [OR] 6-9 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, Cable Schedules, IO Lists and Network Architecture Diagrams
• Preparation of Instrument Wiring Drawing and Loop Drawings using SPI Wiring and Loop Generation Modules
• Experience performing Clash Checks in 3D Model and coordination with other disciplines and other stake holder(s) to develop a clash free system design
• Experience with AutoCad, Revit, S3D or other CAD tools
• Excellent communication and people skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, or Data Center

Responsibilities

• Develops designs for complete Control Systems engineering systems with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
• Assists in constructing detailed scale models
• When working in a lead-role, assigns tasks to best use the knowledge, experience, and capabilities of less experienced Control Systems designers/drafters assigned
• Ensures compliance with approved Control Systems design standards, applicable installation codes, and regulations in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design
• Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents prepared by assigned designers/drafters for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion
• Participates in constructability reviews
• Possesses responsibility for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline
• Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements
• Develops work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic Control Systems designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline
• Generates 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models of high complexity with minimal guidance from others
