Job Description
The Product Development Team at EVAPCO, located at Evapco’s Alcoil facility in York, PA, supports the HVAC, Industrial Refrigeration, and Power markets across all 22 Evapco locations in 10 countries. EVAPCO’s Product Development Engineers develop next-generation technologies to meet the evolving needs of our global customers. This position involves completing critical engineering tasks for new product development, maintaining existing products, and supporting various departments including Production, Manufacturing, and Marketing.
We seek self-motivated engineers with effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to build relationships with global team members, represent Evapco in industry organizations, and occasionally support customers through virtual and onsite assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Product Research and Development
- Designing, programming, and implementing control systems for production units.
- Interacting with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
- Creating certified drawings, project-specific production drawings, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
- Updating documentation for internal and external use.
- Coordinating with other facilities to update and create part specifications for control system components.
- Planning, overseeing, and executing tests on electrical components before their implementation.
- Preparing technical reports and summaries of R&D tests.
- Providing international support for control systems, working with third-party suppliers worldwide.
- Supporting R&D with controls-related questions, troubleshooting, and lab expansion projects.
- Collaborating across departments to facilitate new product development and participate in industry organizations for test code and certification development.
Marketing and Application Assistance:
- Supporting marketing by responding to customer inquiries and requests.
- Occasionally traveling to customer sites for start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Developing solutions for customer requests related to control system modifications or additions.
Production Assistance:
- Supporting production scheduling, questions, and factory testing.
- Training factory technicians on control system assembly and testing procedures.
- Coordinating with field technicians during start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of installed equipment.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical.
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail, reliable documentation, and follow-through.
- 2-5 years of engineering experience; entry-level candidates with a relevant degree will also be considered.
Location:
- Onsite in York, PA, with occasional visits to the Evapco headquarters in Taneytown, MD.
- Travel expected 10-15% for conferences, customer sites, and manufacturing facilities.
