Job summary

Elizabeth River Crossings seeks a Traffic Controller II to support the Downtown/Midtown Tunnels from the Control Room, under supervision of the Operations Control Room Supervisor. Starting rate is $20.00 per hour.

This role requires full vaccination or approved accommodation, a valid Virginia driver’s license, and the ability to obtain security clearance. The position focuses on incident management, live monitoring, and coordination with emergency responders to maintain safe, efficient tunnel

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of equivalent work experience in traffic operations or related functions.
• Must be able to obtain a Virginia driver’s license and pass a background check.
• Vaccination against COVID-19 required, unless a medical or religious accommodation is approved.

Responsibilities

• Monitor CCTV and traffic signs via Traffic Management System during incidents.
• Coordinate with police, fire, and rescue during emergencies.
• Dispatch emergency and maintenance personnel as needed.
• Maintain logs, forms, and reports for supervisor review.
• Operate SCADA systems and tunnel safety equipment.
• Direct field forces and communicate clearly during incidents.
