Position Purpose

Operate, service, and maintain steam and electric chillers, gas turbines, boilers, and related equipment to provide efficient and safe energy to customers.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate and maintain machinery operation.
  2. Follow established practices and manuals for equipment operation.
  3. Ensure continuous operation of district heating and cooling systems.
  4. Monitor and record operational parameters.
  5. Identify and communicate maintenance needs.
  6. Maintain levels of fuel, water, and other fluids; service filters and screens.
  7. Monitor for unsafe conditions and take corrective actions.
  8. Read and interpret safety data sheets and technical drawings.
  9. Assist in maintenance and repair using tools and knowledge.
  10. Clean and maintain equipment and work area.
  11. Perform water testing.
  12. Obtain necessary certifications, e.g., respirator use.
  13. Adhere to safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
  14. Work effectively in a team, follow instructions, and be punctual.
  15. Be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  16. Lift and maneuver heavy loads up to 70 lbs.

Note: The role involves physical activity, including moving heavy equipment and materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in power generation, operating steam generators and turbines.
  • Hands-on experience with solid fuel boilers.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and systems.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and plant log maintenance.
  • Familiarity with DCS and HMI systems.
  • Proficiency with basic Google products.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and lift heavy equipment.

Preferred Skills

  • Training on boiler/turbine DCS controls and emissions systems.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer theory and preventive maintenance.
