Excel Fluid Group is seeking a Control Panel Builder for a full-time first shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM) in Brook Park, OH to assemble, wire, test, and document UL industrial control panels and pump station automation equipment.

The ideal candidate reads schematics and panel layouts with limited supervision, ensures safety and quality, and produces clean, reliable panel builds while recording test results and revision notes. Occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical, electrical, or trade training preferred.
  • Hands-on experience building, wiring, or testing industrial control panels is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs with limited supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge of panel components, wire labeling, crimping, terminations, and organized wire routing.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and basic electrical test equipment safely and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, accurate work.
  • Ability to document work clearly and communicate drawing or material concerns promptly.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work the stated shift, with occasional overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Build and wire industrial control panels from schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
  • Mount and wire components including relays, PLC hardware, HMIs, VFDs, and transformers.
  • Route and label conductors neatly according to shop standards and UL requirements.
  • Perform point-to-point and continuity checks and basic functional testing.
  • Review drawings and materials for accuracy and communicate issues promptly.
  • Maintain clean wire routing, proper bend radius, secure terminations, and overall panel cleanliness.
  • Complete required documentation including checklists, test results, and revision notes.
  • Follow electrical safety practices including lockout/tagout and NFPA 70E awareness.
  • Provide limited field support for panel installation and start-up within training limits.

This is a fulltime first shift position (Monday - Friday) 6:00 AM 2:30 PM

Position Overview

The Control Panel Builder is an experienced shop-based role responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and documenting UL industrial control panels and pump station automation equipment. This position requires strong electrical assembly skills, the ability to read and work from schematics and panel layouts with limited supervision, and a practical understanding of quality, safety, and workmanship standards. The ideal candidate can produce clean, accurate, and reliable panel builds while helping identify issues before they affect schedule, quality, or field installation.

Duties & Responsibilities Would Include But Not Limited To
  • Build and wire industrial control panels from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and bills of material.
  • Mount and wire components including terminal blocks, relays, circuit breakers, disconnects, transformers, power supplies, PLC hardware, HMIs, VFDs, soft starters, pilot devices, and instrumentation.
  • Cut, strip, label, crimp, terminate, and route conductors neatly and accurately according to shop standards, customer specifications, and UL requirements.
  • Perform point-to-point checks, continuity checks, basic functional testing, and troubleshooting using a multimeter and related test equipment.
  • Review drawings and materials for accuracy, identify missing or conflicting information, and communicate issues before they delay production.
  • Maintain clean wire routing, proper bend radius, secure terminations, accurate labeling, and overall panel cleanliness.
  • Complete required documentation including checklists, redlines, material usage notes, test results, and revision markups.
  • Follow electrical safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, OSHA requirements, and NFPA 70E awareness practices.
  • Provide limited field support when assigned, including panel installation assistance, equipment terminations, and start-up support within training and qualification limits.
Skills & Qualifications
