Job summary

Essence Services Inc in Akron, OH is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, person-centered care to individuals with IDD. You will support daily living, transport to appointments, and help with ISP documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience as a DSP, caregiver, home health aide, or in a related field preferred.
• Valid driver''s license and reliable transportation preferred (no more than 4 points on license).
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and daily living support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately.
• Transport and accompany clients to medical appointments, community activities, and errands.
• Encourage client independence, skill-building, and community integration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, family members, and care team members.
• Respond appropriately to behavioral challenges using approved techniques and protocols.
