Contracts Associate

Job Summary

Writers House is seeking an experienced, organized and detail-oriented individual for the Contracts Associate position.

Candidates should have 2–5 years’ direct experience with book publishing contracts, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating book publishing contracts.

Under direction of the Director of Publishing Contracts, the Contracts Associate will be responsible for handling all stages of negotiation, from internal review with our agents, to negotiation with publishers across the industry landscape, through final execution.

The successful applicant will be joining a knowledgeable, high-volume contracts department and must be proactive, diligent, and a team player.

Please note that this is not an agent-track position.

Other Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills, along with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and via email.
• Experience in a literary agency or book publishing contracts department preferred.
• This is a hybrid role based in our NYC office, with an in-office presence expected most days.

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid).

Duration: Full Time.

Salary: $66,000 (NYC exempt pay) to $80,000.
