Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Law, or Business Administration.
  • 7–10 years of subcontract administration or commercial coordination experience on large-scale projects.
  • Experience administering construction subcontracts under forms such as AIA or ConsensusDocs.
  • Experience with GMP or cost-reimbursable delivery structures with multiple work packages.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale data-center or mission-critical project environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of subcontract terms, change management, and commercial administration.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors concurrently in active projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong documentation discipline.
  • Exposure to data center projects preferred; ERP-based subcontract modules experience preferred.
  • Certification or training in Contract Administration or Commercial Management is preferred.
  • US work authorization without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Support subcontract flow-down provisions from client contracts under GMP or cost-reimbursable delivery.
  • Review subcontract agreements to ensure obligations are clear for site and functional teams.
  • Administer subcontracts, monitor reimbursable costs and allowances under GMP/cost-reimbursable structures.
  • Prepare and issue subcontract correspondence including notices and changes.
  • Maintain subcontract registers of correspondence, variations and commercial matters.
  • Verify progress reports and claims for accuracy before submission to project controls.
  • Lead evaluation and negotiation of subcontract variations, extensions, and close-out documentation.
  • Coordinate substantiation of subcontract costs for open-book reviews and client cost validations.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, construction and cost control for compliance and documentation flow.
  • Administer subcontract change orders and variation requests to preserve back-to-back entitlement.
  • Support timing extensions and cost impacts alignment with upstream positions.
  • Oversee subcontractor payment applications and required backup documentation.

SLB is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Contract Administrator to maintain and administer client and subcontract agreements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, accurate documentation, and proactive management of commercial matters. The Contract Administrator maintains close coordination with site teams and subcontractors to ensure that progress, variations, and communications are properly documented and aligned with project requirements. This role acts as the primary interface for all subcontract-related correspondence, supporting the Project Contract Manager in maintaining consistency between client and subcontract obligations. The role supports projects delivered under a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) or cost‑reimbursable model and ensures subcontract obligations, costs, and risk allocations are properly flowed down and aligned with the client contract. The role is execution‑focused and supports commercial risk management through disciplined subcontract administration, cost control, and alignment with the prime contract.

This position requires presence in the construction sites; candidates are to be open to domestic relocation based on project schedules & locations. Qualified candidates anywhere in the US will be considered. Relocation assistance is available.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support preparation and negotiation of subcontract flow‑down provisions from the client contract, ensuring alignment with GMP, change, notice, risk allocation, and schedule relief requirements, under the direction of the Project Contract Manager.
  • Review subcontract agreements and key terms, ensuring site and functional teams understand relevant obligations
  • Support administration of subcontracts under GMP or cost‑reimbursable delivery structures, including monitoring reimbursable costs, disallowed costs, allowances, and provisional sums
  • Prepare and issue subcontract correspondence including instructions, notices, and change documentation
  • Track and maintain subcontract registers for correspondence, variations, and commercial matters
  • Verify subcontractor progress reports and claims for accuracy before submission to project controls and management
  • Lead evaluation and negotiation of subcontract variations, extensions, and close-out documentation
  • Coordinate substantiation of subcontract costs and documentation required for open‑book reviews, audits, and client cost validations.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, construction, and cost control to ensure contractual compliance and proper documentation flow
  • Administer subcontract change orders and variation requests in strict compliance with notice, pricing, and approval requirements to preserve back‑to‑back entitlement with the client contract.
  • Support evaluation of subcontractor extension‑of‑time requests and cost impacts, ensuring consistency with upstream contractual positions.
  • Administer subcontractor payment applications, including validation of progress, backup documentation, lien waivers, and contractual compliance prior to certification.
  • Coordinate with project controls to ensure subcontract costs are accurately recorded, forecasted, and aligned with approved budgets.

Qualifications And Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Law, or Business Administration.
  • 7–10 years of experience in subcontract administration or commercial coordination for large-scale construction or industrial projects
  • Experience administering construction subcontracts under industry‑standard forms such as AIA, ConsensusDocs, or bespoke data‑center client amendments.
  • Experience supporting subcontract administration on GMP or cost‑reimbursable projects with multiple work packages.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale data‑center or mission‑critical project environments preferred.
  • Solid understanding of subcontract terms, change management, and commercial administration
  • Proven experience managing multiple subcontractors concurrently within active project environments
  • Strong documentation and communication skills with attention to accuracy and traceability
  • Exposure to Data Center or mission-critical facility projects preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Certification or training in Contract Administration or Commercial Management is preferred
  • Experience with subcontract management modules in ERP or project control systems is preferred
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
