Job summary

Bloom Consulting seeks a contracted Life Skills Trainer to work with high school–aged students with disabilities in the Isle of Wight County / Chesapeake area of Virginia. Compensation ranges from $25–$30 per hour for an estimated 10–20 hours per week.

The contractor will provide practical life and employment-readiness training using Bloom Consulting’s curriculum and will collaborate with school staff, ensuring safety and timely documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience working with students with disabilities.
• Available Monday through Friday.
• Ability to complete required documentation accurately.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must successfully complete required background screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group instruction to high school–aged students with disabilities.
• Teach practical life skills and employment-readiness skills using Bloom Consulting curriculum.
• Engage students in activities that build independence, confidence, and workplace readiness.
• Interact professionally with students, teachers, school staff, and Bloom Consulting staff.
• Ensure safety and appropriate supervision of students during service times.
• Complete required documentation forms accurately and timely.
• Track student attendance and maintain materials provided by Bloom Consulting.

Approximately 10–20 Hours/Week

Days Needed: Monday–Friday

Number of Contractors Needed: 2

Travel to the service location may be reimbursed as part of the contract.

Join our team as a contracted Life Skills Trainer and make a difference in the lives of students with disabilities ages 16–22. You will provide practical life and employment-readiness skills training through Bloom Consulting’s Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program.

Your role will focus on empowering students with the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to prepare for life after high school and future employment.

This is an independent contractor position with Bloom Consulting and is not employment with the school or school district.

You are a highly qualified candidate if you:

• Have a bachelor’s degree.
• Have experience working with students with disabilities.
• Are available Monday through Friday.
• Are able to complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Have strong communication and organizational skills.
• Are able to successfully complete required background screening.

What You Will Be Doing:

TEACHING & INSTRUCTION

• Providing individual and small-group instruction to high school-aged students with disabilities.
• Teaching practical life skills and employment-readiness skills using curriculum provided by Bloom Consulting.
• Engaging students in activities designed to build independence, confidence, and workplace readiness.
• Interacting with students, teachers, school staff, and Bloom Consulting staff in a professional manner.
• Ensuring the safety and appropriate supervision of students during service times.

ADMINISTRATION

• Completing required documentation forms accurately and in a timely manner.
• Tracking student attendance for each day of service.
• Maintaining materials provided by Bloom Consulting for use throughout the school year.
• Submitting required documentation according to Bloom Consulting procedures and deadlines.

PLANNING & COMMUNICATION

• Following the curriculum and instructional materials provided by Bloom Consulting.
• Preparing for scheduled lessons and activities.
• Communicating student needs, concerns, progress, and relevant updates to your supervisor.
• Maintaining applicable receipts for clients and providers.
• Reviewing paperwork to ensure completion and accuracy.

Schedule & Location

Services will be provided in the Isle of Wight County / Chesapeake area.
