Job summary

Openwork is seeking a reliable Forklift Operator for a contract-to-hire position in Atlanta, GA. The role focuses on order picking, pulling, and safe movement of materials within a warehouse environment.

Responsibilities include operating sit-down forklifts, loading/unloading, inventory movement, and safety compliance. Candidates should have forklift certification and strong attention to detail, with a preference for 3 years of experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• 3 years forklift operation experience preferred.
• Valid forklift operator certification (OSHA or equivalent).
• Strong forklift safety knowledge.
• Ability to read work orders and safety guidelines.
• Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• Ability to perform basic math for loads and inventory.
• Physical ability to sit/stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work on/off the lift.
• Reliable, punctual and detail-oriented.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently to move materials within a warehouse or industrial setting.
• Load and unload materials from trucks, trailers, and other transport vehicles.
• Transport goods to designated storage areas, production lines, or other locations.
• Stack and arrange materials on shelves, pallets, or in designated areas according to procedures.
• Conduct pre-shift forklift inspections and report issues promptly.
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies to prevent accidents.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and pedestrian traffic for safety.
• Utilize RF scanners or inventory systems to track movement of goods.
• Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed.
• Secure loads to prevent shifting or falling during transport.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area including the forklift.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and dispatchers about material movement.
• Adhere to production schedules to ensure timely material flow.
