Job summary

Nintendo Technology Development in Redmond, WA is seeking an experienced Kubernetes infrastructure engineer to audit, design, and manage production-grade cluster environments across on‑premise and cloud platforms.

You will implement Terraform-based deployments, standardized automated workflows, and GitOps pipelines using ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker, and related tools, while mentoring teammates and driving best practices.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience with at least 5 years in production Kubernetes infra.
  • Deep Kubernetes architecture knowledge: Pods, Deployments, RBAC, API server.
  • Experience with on-prem and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Terraform for Kubernetes clusters; Helm or Kustomize for releases.
  • GitOps tools: ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker, Kargo, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Docker and container runtimes like containerd; Linux networking fundamentals.
  • Service mesh experience: Istio/Linkerd/Cilium Service Mesh with mTLS and Envoy.
  • Programming in Go, Python, or C#; scripting on Linux/Windows.
  • Terraform/kubeadm/kubespray for provisioning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and document existing Kubernetes infrastructure to establish a clear, reproducible foundation.
  • Build robust deployment scripts and IaC templates using Terraform for clusters.
  • Investigate and propose solutions for a hybrid cloud strategy.
  • Design and implement standardized automated deployments with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker, Kargo).
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, integrating Helm or Kustomize.
  • Manage Kubernetes cluster operations across on-prem and cloud environments.

Description of Duties
  • Audit and document existing Kubernetes infrastructure, establishing a clear and reproducible foundation.
  • Build robust deployment scripts and IaC templates, leveraging Terraform to provision and manage clusters.
  • Investigate and propose solutions for a hybrid cloud strategy.
  • Design and implement standardized, automated deployments using GitOps principles with tools such as ArgoCD, Flux CD, Spinnaker, or Kargo.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, integrating package or configuration managers like Helm or Kustomize.
  • Manage Kubernetes cluster operations, utilizing tools such as kubeadm and kubectl.
  • Work with Kubernetes clusters hosted on-premise and in cloud environments.
  • Own design, tuning, and troubleshooting of cluster networking, including CNI dataplane (Cilium), ingress/Gateway API, Envoy configuration, and service mesh.
  • Collaborate and mentor peers across the organization.
Summary of Requirements
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 5 years managing production Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, including Pods, Deployments, Services, RBAC, API server.
  • Experience managing clusters on on-premise hardware and in cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform for Kubernetes clusters.
  • Experience with Helm (advanced) or Kustomize.
  • Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker, Kargo, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
  • Expertise with Docker and other container runtimes like containerd.
  • Hands‑on production networking experience with Cilium (or Calico/Canal) and knowledge of Linux networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with a service mesh such as Istio, Linkerd, or Cilium Service Mesh, including mTLS, traffic policy, and Envoy troubleshooting.
  • Programming experience in Go, Python, or C#.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows systems, plus scripting.
  • Experience with Terraform, kubeadm, and kubespray for cluster provisioning and management is preferred.

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

The position is onsite in Redmond, WA, and is not open to remote status.

This contract position includes the base pay range listed below and is eligible for benefits through the employing agency. Agency benefits include eligibility for medical insurance, employee assistance program, and paid sick leave. All benefits are subject to elections, eligibility requirements, plan and program terms. Benefits offerings will be confirmed at the time of offer by the employing agency, and may differ depending on the employing agency partner.

Pay range: $69.78—$125.57 USD
