Job summary

Bureau of Prisons in the United States seeks corrections professionals to foster a humane and secure environment and to ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.

To be considered for the position, you must meet basic requirements including a four-year bachelor’s degree or 24 semester hours in specific fields, plus one of the following educational levels. Eligibility will be assessed based on your responses to the application questions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited U.S. college or university with a 4-year course of study.
• OR at least 24 semester hours in accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, or related fields.
• And you must have one of the following: graduate education or superior academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Procure supplies or services through formal advertising or negotiated methods.
• Review requisitions to determine proper specifications or purchase descriptions.
• Evaluate bids or proposals for compliance with specifications and applicable clauses.
• Meet with commercial representatives to discuss procurement needs and prices.
• Coordinate contracting activities, obtain wage information, and secure clearances.

Education

GL-07: One full academic year of graduate education or law school or superior academic achievement

GL-09: Two full academic years of graduate education or masters or LL.B./J.D.
