Job description

Job Summary:

Texas Library Association (TLA) is looking for a part-time contract Research Project Manager to oversee a two-year research project. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a high level of understanding of libraries. Community outreach of study results will also be required. Project timeline is July 2025 – December 2026 with an estimated workload of 25-30 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, ensuring the project is proceeding on time and on budget. Prepare regular progress reports, identify potential risks and issues, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Supervise service providers conducting opinion polls and an ROI study to evaluate libraries’ economic impact on communities.
    Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through publications, presentations, and other channels.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research methodologies and industry best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least three years of professional-level experience in project management or program evaluation, including experience with formative and summative evaluations.
  • Successful experience working both independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in use of computers, Microsoft Office applications and project management software.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in software and technology platforms such as survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey), statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS), project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Trello, Asana), reference management systems (e.g., Mendeley, EndNote), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and collaboration platforms (e.g., Zoom, Slack) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of information literacy standards and an understanding of library funding and grant writing processes
  • Certification in project management

Working Conditions:

This position will be working remotely with potential travel within Texas. Flexible hours may be necessary to accommodate evening or weekend meetings and events.
