Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Washington, DC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract with potential for permanence. You will perform blood draws, label and process specimens, and ensure accurate handling per protocol.

You will work with geriatric and pediatric patients, handle OSHA guidelines, and maintain documentation. Must have state phlebotomy certification and 5+ years venipuncture experience.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required by state of employment
• Minimum of 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles
• Understands physicians' orders and matches requisitions to tubes
• Labels, centrifuges, splits and freezes specimens as required by test order
• Checks test requisitions for 100% accuracy against scripts
• Packages specimens for transport and stores them per required temperature
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer calls and read lab results to address inquiries
