Job Juncture is seeking a phlebotomist for a contract opportunity in Petersburg, VA. Schedule is 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent placement. Benefits are available and the role requires pediatric and geriatric experience.

Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, and maintaining accurate patient data. Training and workflow improvements are part of the duties, with OSHA/DEP rule compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correctness.
• Package specimens for transport and store according to required temperatures.
• Attend annual department trainings and respond to inquiries via phone.
