Job description

The Contract Manager is responsible for contract management within the New Generation Systems (NGS) Business Unit Project Execution teams, overseeing contracts related to the design, delivery, start-up, turnover, and initial warranty of projects.

The primary focus is collaborating with Project Managers to understand contractual obligations and liabilities. The Contract Manager and Project Manager jointly develop and maintain a Risk Register for each project, aiming to assess and mitigate risks. The Contract Manager ensures standardized correspondence and milestone management to minimize financial penalties and maximize opportunities.

They are a key member of the Claim Management team, which includes project management, construction & commissioning, EPC management, supply chain, correspondence, and schedule management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate Initial Contract Reviews with key Contract Execution Team members following contract turnover.
  2. Ensure the project team understands contract requirements, including scope, milestones, liabilities, reporting, invoicing, payment, delivery, and legal obligations.
  3. Establish and update project Risk Reviews and maintain the Risk Register regularly.
  4. Document potential liabilities, develop evaluation tools, and provide visibility into project execution and liabilities.
  5. Work with schedule analysts to establish and update critical contract milestones within the Level 1 Schedule.
  6. Support the development and management of correspondence related to claims, collaborating with legal and project teams.
  7. Assist in developing financial recovery strategies for project impacts outside of NGS.
  8. Maintain project-specific correspondence and work history tracking tools for claim defense.
  9. Identify and implement improvements in contract standards, templates, and reporting.
  10. Coordinate with financial analysts to ensure proper management of risk funds and liabilities.

  • Travel domestically and internationally (~10-25%).
  • Ensure timely documentation of meetings and action items.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Law, or related field, with 6 years of related experience.
  • Ability to interpret business, technical, and regulatory documents; proficient in report writing and presentations.
  • Strong mathematical and reasoning skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiar with SAP, project scheduling, and related software.
