Actalent is seeking a Design Engineer in Nashville, TN to develop material handling solutions with a focus on conveyor systems. You will translate facility needs into practical designs, manage projects from concept to execution, and travel up to 50% to sites for requirements gathering and deployment.

The role blends hands-on mechanical design with project management, leveraging AutoCAD and SolidWorks, while coordinating with vendors and internal teams to optimize layouts and capacity.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial design.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for detailed layouts and drawings.
• Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Design material handling equipment and conveyors to meet operational requirements.
• Develop site layouts and configurations supporting new equipment and increased capacity.
• Create retrofits and rearrangements of existing layouts.
• Define project scope and document requirements within timelines and budget.
• Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs for vendors and equipment procurement.
• Collaborate with vendors during site selection and equipment planning.
• Produce detailed CAD designs and documentation using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Manage projects from design to handover and track milestones.
• Travel to facility sites up to 50% to gather requirements and support implementation.
• Ensure layouts and integrations optimize system performance and capacity.
