Job summary

US Tech Solutions in Thousand Oaks is seeking a Contract Scientist for Cell Biology and Assay Development. You will establish mammalian cell lines, develop fit-for-purpose cellular assays, and apply these readouts to characterize compounds and advance mechanistic understanding.

The successful candidate will work independently within a cross-functional team spanning biology, chemistry and protein science, with hands-on execution and data-driven problem solving integral to project goals.

Qualifications

PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, or related field, or MS with 3–4 years relevant experience.
Hands-on mammalian cell culture and cell-engineering to develop functional assays.
Experience with imaging, plate-based assays, flow cytometry, and assay readouts is preferred.

Responsibilities

Culture, maintain, and manipulate mammalian cell lines using rigorous cell-culture practices.
Generate and characterize engineered cell lines using transfection, viral transduction, genome editing, and stable-line selection.
Develop, optimize, and execute plate-based cell assays for screening, hit validation, target engagement, and cellular health.
Apply luminescence-based reporter assays, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence/imaging, western blotting, qPCR, and related methods.
Plan experiments, troubleshoot, maintain records, analyze data, and communicate results to project teams.
Contribute to evaluation and prioritization of compounds across early-discovery programs.
