American Meetings, Inc. (AMI) seeks an experienced AV Technical Director to support live events, conferences, meetings, and webcast productions on a project-by-project contract basis.

You will own the technical execution and quality of onsite AV and webcast productions, working directly with clients in a fast-paced live-event environment. The role requires travel, strong client service, and hands-on expertise with AV technologies.

Qualifications

• Maintain strong knowledge of professional AV technologies, webcast platforms, streaming workflows, and video encoder software.
• Monitor audio, video, presentation, streaming, and connectivity systems during live events.
• Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively, particularly in high-pressure live-event situations.
• Follow a team-based approach to project management while taking ownership of assigned technical responsibilities.
• Maintain a professional, client-focused presence throughout each production.

The ideal candidate is an experienced AV professional who can step into a production, work directly with clients, and troubleshoot issues calmly and effectively in a live-event environment.

Qualifications:

• 3 or more years of onsite AV management or technical direction experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing live webcasts and virtual/hybrid events.
• Hands-on experience with Webex, Zoom, and Notified.
• Strong knowledge of AV, webcast, streaming, and video technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions under pressure.
• Strong team collaboration and leadership skills.
• Must be willing and able to travel to events.

This is a freelance, project-based contract opportunity designed for experienced AV professionals who regularly work independently and are interested in taking on additional event assignments.
