Job description

The Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute, the only Federally Recognized Center of Excellence south of Chicago, is adding a Contract Attorney to our growing organization! The Contract Attorney is responsible for the development, drafting, negotiation, and processing of contracts pertaining to BCDI operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. He or she will work closely with the COO and internal and external stakeholders to draft, review, negotiate, and process contracts. He or she will liaise with COO, CFO, and other primary stakeholders on evaluation of the financial impact of negotiated contracts. The Contract Attorney will establish trusted relationships with outside counsel, colleagues, research partners, vendors, consultants, and government agencies through proactive communication and a commitment to exceeding expectations and will advise employees on legal and compliance issues related to BCDI operations.

Salary Range for this Position is: $100,000 - $120,000

Requirements
  1. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school, required.
  2. Contracts review experience, required; previous experience in contract development, drafting, and negotiation (preferably in a healthcare setting), or previous in-house counsel experience, preferred.
  3. Experience in clinical research contracting a plus.
  4. Knowledge in the principles and practices of healthcare administration, health law, and governmental regulations and reimbursement.
  5. Strong knowledge of FDA and other regulatory requirements.
  6. Strong understanding of data protection and privacy laws and regulations.
  7. Strong ability to analyze contracts and other business agreements, and business relationships, applying sound legal skill and reasoning, including the assessment of risk profile when evaluating new engagements.
  8. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, board members, colleagues, and government and agency contacts.
  9. Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
