Job Description:

• The Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnosticexams/procedures in the Ultrasound department in an efficient manner accordingto the physician's order.
• The Sonographer works effectively with patients and physicians andmaintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.
• Complete studies in a timely and efficient manner utilizing downtime toassist others where needed.
• Assures exam charges and 5-day late list are checked daily for theultrasound department.
• Organizes workload during high volume to expedite patient care andcommunicates to other technologists all pending exams and any pertinentinformation.
• Assists the physician in performing radiology procedures.
• Promotes positive relationships at the department level and discussesconcerns with the supervisor, presenting the department in a positive manner toother employees and staff.
• Maintains supplies with a minimum inventory and develops new methods ofsupply utilization.
• Handles equipment in a safe and appropriate manner within guidelinesand policies of WRMC and the Ultrasound/Non-Invasive department. Maintains aclean work area and follows equipment cleaning policies. Assures exteriorsurfaces of the machines are wiped down after each workday and between patientsas appropriate.
• Follows the on-call policy by responding to call back within anacceptable time-frame and arriving in the department within 30 minutes afterbeing called in.
• Willingly assists with procedures in any area of radiology when needed.Checks with co-workers during downtime for the need for assistance.
